Know About Us
Our school is named after Enedina B. Guerra. As a child she was raised at the family's historic ranch, Los Brasiles Ranch in Premont, Texas. After graduating from high school, she attended Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas. She graduated from Pan American College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1962. She obtained her Master of Science degree from Texas A & I University. Enedina's love for children and education naturally led her to a career in the field of education. In 1942, she taught kindergarten through seventh grade in Relampago. From 1956 to 1962, she taught school in the PSJA school district. In 1962, she joined the Edinburg Consolidated School District and taught until 1965. She then served in a supervisory role in which she headed numerous special reading and language programs until 1972. She was principal of Jefferson Elementary in 1972 and retired in 1982. Mrs. Guerra was actively involved in numerous professional educational organizations. In the mid 70's Gov. Brisco named her to the Pan American University Board of Regents. She was elected as vice-chairperson of the Board in 1977.
Vision of E.B. Guerra
Students at E. B. Guerra Elementary will have self-esteem, high moral values, be independent, critical thinkers, self-motivated, and be well disciplined. The staff will make this a reality by working collaboratively, setting high expectations and by providing a student-centered environment.
The curriculum at our school will be well balanced, challenging, motivational and exciting through the integration of the fine arts and "state of the art" technology.
A parent resource center will be available to assist them in acquiring skills to enrich the education of their children. All parents will be responsible, cooperative, understanding, caring, and supportive of our efforts to educate their children.
Community resources will be supportive and involved in our educational efforts. Their services will be utilized to enhance the students' learning.
We at E. B. Guerra Elementary strongly believe that highly qualified teachers and parents working together will improve students' academic achievement, attendance, and prepare them for the new millennium.
